About the Event
A hands on three hour class with the aim to provide the students with a host of different ideas for homemade edible Christmas gifts. Demonstrations at every stage of the workshop from our experienced baker Sally Davis. You will then tackle the various baked goods yourself with guidance at each point. Once baked we will then decorate the goods with different Christmas themes and decadent gold leaf. These baked treats will make fantastic homemade gifts for Christmas. Packaging ideas will also be discussed to enhance your baked goods. Students will take home all the goods that they create during this workshop together with recipes. All materials and ingredients are included in the cost of the course. Please bring a box or container to transport your items home.

- How to make and flavour different chocolate truffles.
- Mastering the technique to bake all butter shortbread with a Christmas flourish.
- How to enhance your home made gifts with edible decorative ideas such as gold leaf application, edible sugar holly, berries etc.
- Packaging ideas for your baked goods.
A Bit About Sally
My name is Sally Davis. For as long as I can remember I have loved to bake and decorate cakes so when I left school I decided to study patisserie and cake decorating at bakery college for three years. After finishing college I set up and ran a successful bakery and tea rooms with my family in Woodstock. Some years later I decided to branch out and set up The Cake Shop in the Covered Market Oxford with a view to concentrate on cake decorating. The business went from strength to strength and soon I opened a second branch in Banbury and moved to larger premises in Oxford. I am proud of my achievements at The Cake Shop and over the years made cakes for thousands of people with many of them coming back year after year. We even had a visit from HRH The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall. I am an accomplished baker and love to pass on my knowledge to students of all ages and abilities.
I have held many cake decorating workshops and evening classes over the years to teach both sugar craft skills and baking. I strongly believe that it is possible to coach all students and to give them the knowledge and tools to create great looking cakes and improve their artistic ability and confidence in cake decorating and baking.
In 2020 I sold The Cake Shop with the aim to concentrate on passing my skills and knowledge to anyone who loves to bake and create sugar works of art.
